If you couldn’t make it to our agency’s Protecting Your Commodity and Cattle Seminar on Tuesday, March 6 in Hepler, Kansas you missed an educational seminar tailored for farmers along with great food and conversation!
The seminar featured Mark Gold, managing partner at Top Third Ag Marketing. Gold presented on strategies North American farmers can use to help protect their commodities and cattle in a volatile market with the end goal of marketing crops and livestock in the top third of commodity prices each year. Farmers face daily stress and risk with the fluctuating market. The marketing plan Gold proposes intends to reduce stress both by avoiding margin calls. To visit Top Third Ag Marketing, visit here.
Jade Rodemeyer, agri-business/commercial managing underwriter at Nationwide Agribusiness presented on the Nominate Your Fire Department contest sponsored by Specialty Risk Insurance. The contest awards life-saving grain bin rescue tubes and hands-on training to local fire departments to share should there be a grain entrapment accident.
To highlight the value of the first responder equipment and training, the program has awarded grain bin rescue tubes and training to 48 departments in 18 states since 2014. The Westphalia Fire Department in Kansas and the Glenville Fire Department in Minnesota have both put their tubes and training to action saving the lives of farmers trapped in grain bins.
