Specialty Risk Insurance and Joplin Regional Stockyards are sponsoring a Cattle Industry Panel at the Four State Farm Show in Pittsburg, Kansas. This panel, titled The state of the Cattle Market and Finding Stability with Livestock Risk Protection (LRP), is at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023.
Owner of Specialty Risk Insurance, Kevin Charleston, will be speaking about Livestock Risk Protection (LRP) and Skyler Moore of Joplin Regional Stockyards will be speaking about the Cattle Market. Skyler and Kevin are thrilled to have two industry renowned professionals joining them on the panel. Brady Sidwell, Founder and President of Sidwell Strategies, is the third panelist to discuss the economy. The panel is hosted by Kevin Ochsner, host of NCBA's Cattlemen to Cattlemen.
Brady J. Sidwell
Brady Sidwell is the Founder and President of Sidwell Strategies, Sidwell Distribution, Enterprise Grain Company, Enterprise Grain Malt, Sidwell Solutions, Sidwell Seed, 81 Feed and Seed, Sidwell Transport, Arbitrage αlpha Solutions, Enid Brewing Company and Chisholm Trail Milling. Mr. Sidwell is also a Limited Partner and member of the Advisory Board of Germin8 Ventures, a Food Tech Venture Capital firm based out of Chicago, and a founding partner of Ninja Ag, LLC, a precision agriculture technology business that creates variable-rate nutrient applications from corrected NDVI imagery. Mr. Sidwell was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank, Oklahoma City Branch in January 2020.
Prior to his recent change in becoming an entrepreneurial business owner and commodity broker, Mr. Sidwell was Vice President of Global Strategy, Mergers & Acquisitions for the OSI Group, based out of its headquarters near Chicago. He first joined the company as VP of Corporate Strategy and Business Development for the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa (APMEA), based in Hong Kong. At OSI, Mr. Sidwell was responsible for spearheading global strategy and M&A.
Before joining OSI, Mr. Sidwell was Head of Food & Agribusiness Research and Advisory for Rabobank in North East Asia. He was responsible for cross-border F&A strategies for companies and investors across various sectors in the supply chain. While at Rabobank, Mr. Sidwell appeared regularly on Bloomberg, CNBC and Reuters TV to discuss the impacts of global and regional food & agriculture developments on Asian and global markets.
Prior to Rabobank, Mr. Sidwell worked on project teams at the U.S. Embassy offices of the U.S.D.A. in South Korea and Thailand. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree cum laude in Agricultural Economics with a focus on International Marketing from Oklahoma State University and a Master of Economics degree from the University of Hong Kong where he studied as a Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholar to China. Mr. Sidwell was raised on a family farming operation in Goltry, OK, where he lives with his wife Emily, son Henry, and daughter Diana. He is active in his community as a Rotarian, Ambucs member, Advisory Board and Investment Committee Member of the Cherokee Strip Community Foundation, Class 31 of Leadership Oklahoma and the Board of Governors of the Oklahoma State University Foundation.
Kevin Ochsner
Kevin Ochsner is host of NCBA’s Cattlemen to Cattlemen, a TV show seen weekly on RFD-TV. A native of Colorado, Kevin graduated from Colorado State University in 1991 with a BS degree in Agricultural Business and earned a Masters in Management from the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University.
For the past 31 years, Kevin has worked as a business consultant and speaker, first with the Indianapolis-based consulting firm, Agri Business Group, and for the past 10 years with his own firm, Agcellerate, LLC. In this role, Kevin has provided strategic planning, keynote speaking and management consulting services to agribusiness companies and organizations including agribusinesses like Bayer Crop Science, Certified Angus Beef, Case IH, John Deere and Zoetis in addition to industry organizations and associations including National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, the United States Meat Export Federation, the American Quarter Horse Association and many others.
Kevin and his wife Julie have three grown children and make their home on an irrigated farm and ranch in Kersey, Colorado - approximately 60 miles Northeast of Denver. He remains active in production agriculture managing a herd of 200 head of registered Limousin and Lim-Flex cattle, raising irrigated corn and alfalfa, and helping his wife grow their direct-to-consumer beef business, Ochsner Tender-Raised Beef.
